‘Our pledge: no more malnourished girl child’ with this objective in view the Girl Child Day is observed all over the country. As a part of this occasion The Girl child Advocacy Forum and Action Aid Bangladesh jointly organized an art competition for children. The Competition was held in the Silpakala Academy in a festive atmosphere. About three hundred children, both boys and girls, from different schools and organizations took part in the competition.
The competition in three groups continued from 3pm to 5pm. The tropic for painting for group ka, children of 4-7 years, was ‘my mother,’ for group Kha, children of 8-11 years the subject was ‘I want to be, for group Ga, children of 12-16 years the subject was ‘Where from we get nutrition’. Artist Farida Zaman director, Fine Arts Institute and artist Samira Nafiz program officer Fine Arts Institute, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Kindly consented to be the judges for the competition. Nasima Akthar Jolly member secretary of the National Girl child Advocacy Forum along with the judges observed the children in painting and listen to them.
The National Girl child Advocacy Forum this year organized many programs all over the country on the Girl Child Day. Essay competition, painting competition, debate, tree plantation, mothers rally discussion, meetings, publications, leaflet distribution etc were the main programs of the day.
The results of the competition were announced and prizes distributed on The National Girl Child Day the 30 September, 2005 at the National Press Club Auditorium. First, 2nd and 3rd place winners were awarded prizes.
