গত ২৪ মে বাংলাদেশ সুপ্রিম কোর্টের হাইকোর্ট ডিভিশন জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে প্রার্থীদের জীবনবৃত্তান্ত ও বিভিন্ন তথ্যাবলি সংগ্রহ সম্পর্কে একটি অতি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রায় প্রদান করেন। রায়ে নির্বাচন কমিশনকে প্রত্যেক প্রার্থী থেকে মনোনয়নপত্রের সঙ্গে নিম্নলিখিত তথ্যাবলি এফিডেভিট আকারে সংগ্রহ করার এবং এগুলো গণমাধ্যমকে দিয়ে জনগণের মাঝে প্রচার করার নির্দেশ প্রদান করা হয়

সংবাদপত্রের রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী, (১ ডিসেম্বর ২০০৪) উপজেলা বাতিল সংক্রান্ত 'কুদরত-ই-ইলাহী বনাম বাংলাদেশ' মামলার ১২ বছর আগে দেয়া বাংলাদেশ সুপ্রিমকোর্টের আপিল বিভাগের সর্বসম্মত রায় বাস্তবায়নের জন্য সরকার সম্প্রতি আরও একবার সময় চেয়েছে। এটি ২২ কি ২৩ বারেরর মতো সময় চাওয়া। এমনিভাবে একের পর এক সরকার সাংবাধিনানিক নির্দেশনা এবং কোর্টের রায় গত ১২ বছর ধরে অমান্য করে আসছে। বিষয়টি দূর্ভাগ্যজনক, কারণ বিচার বিলম্বিত হওয়া ন্যায়বিচার থেকে বঞ্চিত করারই নামান্তর।
